A New Day, A New Adventure!

The forecast calls for rain tomorrow, a good day for running errands with my four favorite munchkins.  With that plan in mind, today became all about the great outdoors.

I've been studding the river trail maps, looking for new places to check out. I noticed a cool park a few miles down the trail that we had never been to. I know I do a lot of river posts.. but, it's what we do! ;)

We had never gone this direction on the trail before, and I don't think we have ever walked that far either! It was BEAUTIFUL, refreshing,  full of entertainment for the kids and a killer workout for me!

I took tons of pictures and really tried to enjoy every minute. With the kiddos 3rd birthday coming up I'm getting all emotional, I know, SHOCKING!;) I'm just realizing how fast they are growing up and before we know it, they will be in school. Snif snif, our babies are turning into big kids!

Enjoy the pics, I had fun taking them. It really was a great day!

They LOVE the turkey's on the trail...

Counting My Chickens

I don't know about you, but I cannot resist spending the day outside when the weather is this beautiful!

One of our favorite spots

Just outside our back door is nature at it's best! The kids and I love taking long hikes along the trails and talking about all that we see.

We've been all over the river the last few weeks. Today we decided to hit up the "chicken park." It's been a while since we visited those friendly little guys so we packed up and headed out for the long long long LONG walk. I know I speak for the 5 of us when I say, we enjoyed every single minute and didn't want to come home!

The view from our walk.

Upon arrival at the park the kids went nuts for the chickens... poor poor chickens! Don't worry, those little cluck clucks hold their own with my wild ones!

Don't mess with this rooster!

Those chickens sure can run! Our kids NEVER caught up!

The poultry isn't the only attraction at the park. The kiddos love running and running and running and climbing. The play structure is a big hit too. I love watching them play together.

Happy Birthday Conor!

Today Conor is 30!!

I'm a tiny bit older than he is. So, he LOVES to tease me during those short few months that my age is greater than his. I guess it's safe to say that I get more excited about his birthday than he does!

Happy Birthday babe! We love you.  You are an amazing father and husband and you are only getting better with age.

Here is my attempt at a group birthday song, click on the picture below to link to the video.

First Slumber Party!

With all our fun in the sun this week I forgot to share some exciting news!! Our kiddos spent the night at my mom's house for the first time last weekend!

Since moving into our home, Conor and I have been slowly working on "do it yourself" home improvement projects. Last week, base boards!

Conor took Friday off to get prepared and our AWESOME friend Kevin came by to help. They planned on this being a two day project. Even though they were working mainly in the garage, by early afternoon on Friday I was having a really hard time keeping the kids out of the way. They were miserable. So, we headed out to find a park to play at and have a dinner picnic. When we got home the boys were still hard at work so I got the kids tucked safely into bed.

I realized that another day like that one... wasn't a great idea! So, I called my mom and asked her if she would mind taking the kids for the day on Saturday?! She loves having the kiddos at her house and they LOVE spending time with her. As always, she was willing to help in any way needed. Yep, she IS that AWESOME!!

When we got to my moms house the next morning she said, "I'll keep them as long as you need, how about you just let them stay the night?!"

When I checked in with my mom, later that day, things were going great and she said, "I love you, good night, I don't want to hear from you before tomorrow morning." I know.. I am one LUCKY girl!

I won't lie, I didn't sleep much, not because I was worried, but because I missed them. The house was SOOO QUIET! When I picked them up the next morning they were talking a million miles a minute about all the fun they had at Nani's house!! It is heart warming to see them building such wonderful memories, memories that are so similar to the ones I have from childhood. My mom does so many of the same things with them that MY Nani did with me! They have a very special relationship with her.

Mom, you are my hero, you always have been. I love you with all my heart. Thank you so much for this last weekend and all the time and love you have given to us and our children. But more importantly, thank you for the last 30 years (as a single parent). You are the most wonderful mother a girl could ever have and I am proud to be your daughter!
